New dashboard, designer and API update

If you are using EasyWebshop regularly, you will have noticed that we made a lot of improvements during the past months. This newsletter shows a brief overview.
New dashboard
The new dashboard is designed to give you a helicopter overview of your website visitors and webshop operations. It works very well on smartphones and desktops, making your life as an entrepreneur easier.
The dashboard will give you instant notifications on incoming orders. We recommend leaving the page open in a separate tab in your browser. If you tend to work late, use the dark mode feature to save your eyes from stress.
Easy Designer
In 2021, we implemented the new lay-out system (version 4) with a new designer. This update provides the foundation of all the new features we are now implementing: improved product lists, rounded category and product images, high quality photos and modern up-to-standard designs.
Although this new designer offers complete flexibility in the design of a website, we've noticed it is too complex for a part of our users. In the end, the value we create for our customers are easy to use interfaces for managing a website or webshop. We always need to balance between features and user friendliness, which we have become very good at.
We re-implemented the old designer (launched in 2012) and made it compatible with the new layout features. This is now called the Easy Designer. Given it's a recycled piece of software, it may feel a bit dated. But it has worked flawlessly in the past and it's a very reliable and robust way to make layout changes. Sometimes old technology is still the best!

New features include activating and deactivating modules, cropping for consistent product photos, rounded borders around category and product photos and many more. We will send a dedicated newsletter with all the new layout features explained later this year, but you can already try many of them today.
API update
We have been working tirelessly on the new and improved API which will be released soon™. For our less technical audience: the API bridges your webshop to external platforms like payment providers, delivery services and office applications.
Changes include tighter security with bearer tokens and permissions per section and per action, higher limits, extensive documentation and better consistency with standard practices. We also have put in tremendous effort to make the API easy to use, also for non tech nerds. This will in some cases allow our users to connect their webshop to external services themselves instead of having to rely on an experienced developer, taking away the financial barrier.
Some of our users invested heavily in API connections. To not upset these users, the new API will be almost completely backwards compatible. Small changes include the authentication method, stricter input verification and default to the JSON format with XML still available. These changes will be documented and communicated when the new API is ready for implementation.
